Saturday Morning Birdwatching and Bay Walking Breakfast Club
Every Saturday morning throughout the year you will find a bunch of hardy souls who love the Bay gathering at the Pavilion in the south eastern area of Findhorn Bay. Bring a flask and some snacks and come on down! The gathering time varies a bit depending on the time of year, but there is usually someone there between 8 – 8.45am, possibly earlier and possibly a bit later. The Pavilion is a short walk from the wee bridge entrance to Findhorn Bay on the B9011 at Kinloss (if you are heading in the direction of Findhorn, the bridge is just past Manse Road). Once you are over the bridge, the Pavilion is a couple of minutes walk along the track, which veers right after the trees – you can’t miss it!
Other Events
Up to date information about other Friends of Findhorn Bay events is generally listed on the Facebook page Findhorn Bay Wildlife Watch. This is a “Closed” Facebook Group, so if you are a Facebook user, you will need to click the “Join Group” link, which will send your request to the group Admins. This is the best and most frequently updated place to connect with other Friends of Findhorn Bay members and to find out what events are happening and when.
If you do not use Facebook and you are interested in joining Friends of Findhorn Bay, have an idea for an event relating to Findhorn Bay, or would like to volunteer to help Friends of Findhorn Bay in some way, please get in touch with us via the Contact Us page on this website.
Past Events:
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday Morning Goose-watching in the South East corner of Findhorn Bay
The great migration of thousands of geese through Findhorn Bay happens every year, usually from late August until late February. The South Eastern corner of Findhorn Bay (accessible from opposite Kinloss Church) offers the best opportunities for close up goose-watching. We will be organising early morning goosewatching on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the season (when there will be no shooting happening in the South East corner of the Bay), so watch this space for more information.

All local residents who value the beauty, peacefulness and ecological importance of Findhorn Bay are welcome to join us for the inaugural meeting of the Friends of Findhorn Bay at Kinloss Church Community Hall on Monday 14th December at 7.30pm. At the meeting you will be able to join this new citizens action group and participate in its future activities.
The evening will comprise a short talk with slides about the winter bird population on Findhorn Bay, by ornithologist Richard Somers-Cocks, as well as a short video presentation on the beauty of the Bay by Rev. Louis Bezuidenhout. After that we will discuss the vision and aims of the Friends of Findhorn Bay and how you can participate. This will also be your last chance to sign the formal petition that will be delivered to Moray Council, which calls for a ban on shooting in the Findhorn Bay LNR. We have over 500 signatures so far – please add your name if you have not already done so. Warm drinks and nibbles will be provided!
